The Story So Far...

This is intended to be a rough guide only to explain the basic storyline. For a detailed episode guide, try the Lexx Directory Episode Guide.

In I Worship His Shadow(Episode 1), Kai's planet is destroyed by His Shadow, Kai is killed and turned into an undead assassin, Xev gets transformed from an unattractive large girl into a beautiful love slave, 790 gets the love slave mental programming and Stan gets the key to the Lexx and steals it. This all takes place against the backdrop of Thodin and his heretics attempting to steal the Lexx from the Cluster, causing much disarray and eating of people by big scary Cluster Lizards.

There is a prophecy saying that that Divine Order will be destroyed by the Last of the Brunnen-G (i.e. Kai) if His Shadow ever leaves the cluster. His Shadow doesn't believe this however, and flaunts the prophecy by sending Kai to stop the heretics.

Kai kills Thodin, and is about to kill Stan and Xev until he hears the Divine Predecessors being attacked by Cluster Lizards and goes to rescue them. When he touches one of the brains he regains his memory and turns against His Divine Shadow. Stan commands the Lexx to leave the cluster and blows up a perimeter station on the way out. His Shadow sends his destroyer, the Mega-Shadow, after the Lexx and Stan remembers that he has codes to a secret place where his shadow cannot go - the Dark Zone. Kai's ancestors came from the Dark Zone but it is supposed to be a place full of evil, chaos and depravity. The only way there is via a "Fractal Core" however, the co-ordinates of which Stan has implanted in one of his teeth. Zev pulls his tooth and 790 finds the code. They head for the Fractal Core.

His Shadow decides to get on the Lexx and stop the Heretics himself, leaving his brain back on the Cluster and merely taking the "essence" that forms His Shadow's mind. Kai attacks His Shadow on the Lexx and kills his body, but the essence continues to attack Kai. The Lexx makes it safely through the Fractal Core, forcing His Shadow's essence to return to the brain it left behind on the Cluster.

The ship heads off into the Dark Zone to look for a safe planet for the crew to live on.

Episode 2,Supernova sees the crew find the planet of Kai's ancestors, Brunnis. The planet was abandoned when the sun started to decay and the Brunnen-G came through the fractal core to the Light Universe. Zev thinks they may be able to find knowledge there to restore Kai to life. They find a massive library containing all the knowledge of the Brunnen-G, but it's files have been corrupted by a hologram of a Poet who was left behind when the planet was evacuated. Zev narrowly escapes being sliced in half in a traditional Brunnen-G memory storage ritual and Kai, although having been sliced in half, is restored by the power of a strange blue star in orbit around the planet.

Meanwhile a character from Episode 1, Gigerotta, who was presumed killed by Kai, is also still aboard the Lexx and whilst the others are off exploring the planet, makes a deal with the Divine Predecessors to get command of the Lexx back for them. She tricks Stan into trusting her then cuts off his hand which she takes back to the Lexx and fixes in place over Lexx's keypad. Lexx does not respond however, and the Divine Predecessors tell her to bring all of Stan back. As she leaves they then imitate Stan's voice and the Lexx begins to take off, believing Stan to be in control..

Back on the planet, Stan, Zev and Kai realise the Sun is about to go Supernova and see the Lexx taking off. They prepare for death but the the blue star and the sun suddenly start talking to Kai. They say it is written in the prophecy that today is not their day to die, and force the Lexx to land again on the planet so that the crew may escape. As the crew escape, Gigerotta is left behind and the Sun and Star collide in a gigantic explosion, obliterating the planet, Gigerotta and all.

When the Lexx gets hungry, the whole crew suffers. In Eating Pattern the Lexx lands on an abandoned garbage planet to feast on the organic waste so that he can provide food and fuel for the crew. Kai's pod turns out to be malfunctioning and he appears to have freeze-dried. Despite Zev's attempts to resuscitate him, it seems he's finally dead-dead as opposed to alive-dead. Zev insists that they have a funeral for him on the planet while Lexx feeds. After a "touching" eulogy, they bury Kai and go to explore. The planet is inhabited by a few people with an addiction to a drink made out of their own limbs, called Pattern. King Bog, the leader, makes the pattern and people willingly allow their limbs to be removed in a kind of Russian Roulette game for the chance to win some Pattern. When Zev shows up he is very impressed as she is "clean" and therefore will make excellent pattern. He intends to grind her up...

Meanwhile, Kai is revived by some strange worms that excrete an enzyme on him to see if he is alive and therefore edible. He finds a hovel containing a video tape on which is a girl explaining that the planet is infested with worms who take over the humans and demand Pattern. The video says she's going to find the queen. Kai realises that she has been killed so when she walks in behind him, he shoots her. Then he shoots the second copy of her that walks in behind her. Her stomach explodes to reveal thousands of green worms. He heads off in search of the others. Stan has meanwhile met the same strange girl (who is called Wist) who kisses him and infests him with a worm of his very own. This makes him addicted to Pattern and a bit dense, and when Wist and Bog decide to steal the Lexx he is happy to help. Kai turns up and rescues Zev, who takes Stan back to the Lexx whilst the other inhabitants of the planet are killed by their parasitic worms. Kai attacks the queen, who has taken the form of Wist and has grown to giant size whilst Stan runs wild and tries to leave the planet without Kai. Wist grabs the underside of Lexx as it takes off and stabs him with a very long tongue/worm type thing. Kai also climbs onto the Lexx and tries to kill Wist, but Lexx himself does it by blowing up the planet and sending chunks of debris flying, one of which knocks Wists's head off. With the queen dead, Stanley's worm dies and Kai pulls it out of his neck.

The Lexx is fully refuelled and they head off once more into the Dark Zone.

Gigashadow takes up where I Worship His Shadow left off. Zev makes Stan take Lexx back through the Fractal Core as Kai's Protoblood is running out and she wants to find more. According to Kai's memories from His Shadow, Protoblood comes from the Gigashadow, but no-one knows what that is. Also aboard the Lexx is a Cluster Lizard egg which hatches and adopts Kai as it's mother. Zev names the baby "Squish" as that's exactly what she'll do to it if it comes near her.

Meanwhile on the Cluster all human life has been extinguished in a great "cleansing". The protein has been used to feed the Gigashadow...the next stage of evolution for His Shadow. Eight priests have been charged with performing the ceremony but some are disloyal and the ceremony is aborted. They are all killed, including one called Yottskry. When Zev and Kai return to the cluster it is empty apart from the bodies of the priests. They find the half smashed brain of His Shadow which talks to them and pleads that they destroy him. He claims to be the good half of the brain and the evil half is a few feet away. Squish eats the evil half before Kai can stop him, and Kai crushes the other half and absorbs the memories, but it tells them nothing about the Gigashadow.

They search the assassins' mortuary chamber for protoblood but the tubes are dry so they follow the tubes to a huge pool of goo. It's not protoblood but before they can find any, Yottskry, who was dead, appears and pleads with Kai to kill him because he is possessed by His Shadow. Kai cannot kill him because he's already dead and Zev realises that there must have been protoblood on the platform they first landed on. Yottskry's body is pulled into a giant brain - the brain of the Gigashadow, while Kai collapses as his protoblood has finally run out. A tearful Zev desperately searches for protoblood back on the top platform and finds enough to fill some tubes. She gives some to Squish and tells him to take it to Kai, then she has to run as she's being chased by the rest of the undead priests, plus the cluster is beginning to shake itself apart. She gets in the moth and leaves the Cluster, calling Stan in the Lexx, but Stan has been visited by old "friends" - the mercenaries who tortured the Amino Acid Codes out of him all those years ago.

Kai is revived by Squish with the protoblood and attacks the Gigashadow's brain. It ejects him into space but he sends Squish, who is always hungry for brain, back towards the Gigashadow. From the moth, Zev can see that the Gigashadow is actually a very large and angry insect. At the last minute, Stan appears with the Lexx and fires at the Gigashadow, which doesn't work, but he also picks up Zev and the floating Kai. They head back towards the Fractal Core as the Gigashadow will be too big to fit through it, which it is. As they pass through, however, the Gigashadow sends a tentacle through after the Lexx which stabs it and chases the crew around the inside of the Lexx. Just when they are about to be killed by the essence of His Shadow injected through the tentacle, Squish tucks into the brain of the Gigashadow, causing the tentacle to retract and the Gigashadow to fall into the Fractal Core, imploding it and closing for ever.

Now stuck in the dark zone, Stan explains that he tricked the mercenaries into capturing him again and then got Lexx to eat their ship for revenge for what they did to him all those years ago. Zev turns to Kai and kisses him, and he actually almost kisses her back. Then he lays his head on her shoulder and the black essence of His Shadow swims slowly across his eyes...
